5 Biggest Regrets In Life

When you look back at your life, how many of your dreams have gone unfulfilled?

After spending the best years of your life working hard to pay the bills and put your children through college, are you spending your retirement years living on your gratuity, EPF, or money you receive every month from your children?

Do you feel as if you’ve missed out on the best things in life - nice clothes, a big house, fast cars, and luxury holidays?

Do you regret not enjoying a rich and luxurious lifestyle when you were young, and feel that you’ve missed the opportunity now that you’re old?

Our biggest regrets in life are not for the things we did, but for the things we didn’t do.

Top 5 biggest regrets in life

1. I wish I had pursued my dreams and aspirations
The number one regret that most people have is not being brave enough to pursue their dreams. Fear of failure and fear of what people will say about them have kept them from realising their potential and living life to the fullest.

Now they live a mediocre life because it’s what they thought was expected of them.

2. I wish I had started my own business
Many people wish they had had the courage to leave their job and be their own boss. But the fear of change and fear of the future kept them from taking that leap of faith and making the money they could have made.

Maybe if they had started their own business back then, they would have become a millionaire by now.

3. I wish I had travelled the world
A lack of high income, difficulty taking leave days, children, and a busy schedule are common reasons why people missed the opportunity to travel around the world while they were younger.

Those who said they were waiting to retire or until they had saved up enough money before travelling were eventually too old, too tired, and not in the best of health to travel.

4. I wish I had purchased my dream house and car
Many people settle for an affordable house and a low-maintenance car, hoping that one day they’ll earn enough money to stay in a million-dollar home or buy a 2-door sports car, but they never do.

Now they can only hope that their children will buy them a nice car to appreciate them for all the money they spent on their children’s education.

5. I wish I had looked after my health
Many people spend the best years of their lives working extremely hard to support their family and pay the bills, oftentimes to the extent of neglecting their own health.
If they had made it a priority to get proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep, maybe they wouldn’t have to suffer health problems now.

Don’t let being old stop you from achieving your dreams.

Fashion designer, Vera Wang, only became successful after the age of 40 while Henry Ford was 45 when he created the revolutionary Model T car.

“For the timid, change is frightening; for the comfortable, change is threatening; but for the confident, change is opportunity.” – Nido Qubein

How Housewives Kick-Start Their Businesses Online

Housewives-turned-entrepreneurs have learnt the art of making lots of money from the comfort of their homes.

Are you a housewife? Then you have the capacity to earn as much money as a businessman.

Many housewives are taking advantage of the internet to run small businesses from home. By learning how to maximise the use of social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, any housewife can become an instant entrepreneur.

Top 3 ways housewives earn money online:

1 Influencer
A successful blogger or Instagrammer who has thousands or millions of users is in a unique position to collaborate with brands to make money through:

·   Sponsorship – An influencer gets paid by a brand to publish a feature of a sponsored or branded content.

According to Yahoo Tech, the value of a sponsored post is USD700-800 for Instagrammers with more than 100,000 followers, USD2,000-3,000 for Instagrammers with at least half a million followers, and over USD50,000 per big-brand collaboration for Instagrammers with 1 million followers or more.

·   Hosting or event appearances – An influencer gets hired to host a product launch, party, or grand opening; or attend brand-sponsored events.

·   Brand ambassador – An influencer gets paid by a brand to use their products and services to increase brand awareness and sales.

·   Consultation services – An influencer gets hired to provide advice on blogging to companies and businesses.

·   Radio shows – An influencer earns money by sharing content on the air through hosting radio shows.

·   Affiliate marketing – An influencer receives a percentage of online sales generated through a reference from a blog post or banner ad placement.

·   Affiliate publishing – An influencer earns money from selling their own  products such as ebooks, downloadable content, webinars, or physical products on their blog.

2 Online Personal Shopper
An online personal shopper has connections to online stores with the best deals, discounts, and return policies. They’ll look into every nook and cranny to get the buyer what they want, even if it’s the most obscure thing in the world that no one has ever heard of.

An online personal shopper has every resource possible to fit the customer’s need, preference, and budget.

3 Home Entrepreneur
Enterprising housewives who are good at handicraft can earn money by selling what they make at home on online marketplaces like Lazada, 11Street, Amazon and Rakuten.

Others who can’t make handmade gifts sell other people’s products instead like apparel, shoes, bags, jewellery, or even kitchen appliances through WhatsApp

By creating a WhatsApp chat group, they can instantly update their customers by posting updates on the latest products, best buys, or glowing testimonials.

The World’s Fastest Dying Industries

Here today, gone tomorrow. Are you working in an industry that could put you out of a job the next day?

Over the last decade, various industries like photography, CD & DVD manufacturing, retail stores, and publishing have been slowly going out of business due to changes in technology. Innovation, overseas outsourcing, changing consumer preference, and a new digital landscape have contributed significantly to the success and failure of small and big industries.

As these industries slowly fade into obscurity, hundreds of thousands of people are being left without jobs.

The world’s fastest dying industries include:

Newspaper and magazine publishing
The proliferation of digital news media has caused the downturn of one of the fastest shrinking industries, the publishing industry.

Newspaper and print media circulation took a nosedive due to the widespread popularity of online news sources and a loss in advertising revenue. Major newspapers are focusing on digital presence to win back the audience.

But this stills means a loss of jobs for printers and graphic designers. Oh, and don’t forget the newspaper delivery men.

Pay TV and subscription TV

The wide availability of digital media and online streaming services is causing subscription television and DVD manufacturing to become obsolete.

Recordable media manufacturing
Digital and on-demand technologies have made CDs and DVDs virtually obsolete.

Easy access to digital content will continue to grow and recordable media is expected to see a decline in revenue over the next few years.

Appliance repair shops
With appliance prices continually dropping due to lower production costs, consumers will find little need for shops to repair their phones, computers, and electric appliances as they find it easier and more cost effective to simply purchase a new appliance.

Apparel manufacturers
The apparel industry is facing steep competition due to cheap imports and knockoffs. Cheaper labour abroad has caused many companies to outsource manufacturing operations while robotic automation has also put thousands out of work.

Brick-and-mortar business
Who needs to go to the shops when you can do your shopping online? Brick-and-mortar retail stores are closing stores across the nation as they try desperately to survive amidst the endless supply of online stores.

If you want to stay relevant and keep your job or business, you need to join the right industry.
