When you look back at your life,
how many of your dreams have gone unfulfilled?
After spending the best years of your life
working hard to pay the bills and put your children through college, are you
spending your retirement years living on your gratuity, EPF, or money you
receive every month from your children?
Do you feel as if you’ve missed out on the
best things in life - nice clothes, a big house, fast cars, and luxury
holidays?
Do you regret not enjoying a rich and
luxurious lifestyle when you were young, and feel that you’ve missed the
opportunity now that you’re old?
Our biggest regrets in life are not for the
things we did, but for the things we didn’t do.
Top
5 biggest regrets in life
1. I wish I had pursued my dreams and aspirations
The number one regret that most people have
is not being brave enough to pursue their dreams. Fear of failure and fear of
what people will say about them have kept them from realising their potential
and living life to the fullest.
Now they live a mediocre life because it’s
what they thought was expected of them.
2. I wish I had started my own business
Many people wish they had had the courage
to leave their job and be their own boss. But the fear of change and fear of
the future kept them from taking that leap of faith and making the money they
could have made.
Maybe if they had started their own
business back then, they would have become a millionaire by now.
3. I wish I had travelled the world
A lack of high income, difficulty taking
leave days, children, and a busy schedule are common reasons why people missed
the opportunity to travel around the world while they were younger.
Those who said they were waiting to retire
or until they had saved up enough money before travelling were eventually too
old, too tired, and not in the best of health to travel.
4. I wish I had purchased my dream house and car
Many people settle for an affordable house
and a low-maintenance car, hoping that one day they’ll earn enough money to
stay in a million-dollar home or buy a 2-door sports car, but they never do.
Now they can only hope that their children
will buy them a nice car to appreciate them for all the money they spent on
their children’s education.
5. I wish I had looked after my health
Many people spend the best years of their
lives working extremely hard to support their family and pay the bills,
oftentimes to the extent of neglecting their own health.
If they had made it a priority to get
proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep, maybe they wouldn’t have to suffer
health problems now.
Don’t let being old stop you from achieving
your dreams.
Fashion designer, Vera Wang, only became
successful after the age of 40 while Henry Ford was 45 when he created the
revolutionary Model T car.
“For
the timid, change is frightening; for the comfortable, change is threatening;
but for the confident, change is opportunity.” –
Nido Qubein
